From Casco's website: To land again, to find ground—not only beneath our feet, but within. Where do we truly live? After leaving, drifting, or being pulled away—how do we return?
Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons is pleased to announce its 2025 Autumn artistic program, Rerooting in the Polder, an exhibition by Frisian artist and long-term Casco collaborator Wapke Feenstra.
Summer and early autumn 2025
Aarden in de Polder at Casco Art Institute, UtrechtWith Aarden in de Polder (Rerooting in the Polder) Wapke’s long-standing engagement turns toward the Dutch landscape, offering particular attention to the distinctive form of the polders: flat, low-lying tracts of land (re)claimed from the sea, lakes, or rivers, made agriculturally productive and protected by dikes, and maintained through an intricate network of canals, pumping stations, and drainage systems.
Wapke has spent several decades investigating the ecologies of land - its physical, mental, and social dimensions - by tapping into local knowledges and engaging with people and the everyday.
Summer Social
The garden at Trinity Hall is complete and has a new nickname by the neighbours, the Magic Garden. Hard work is coming to an end as the transformed car park is now filled with insects and scented plants creating a calm, sensory, green space for our community to enjoy.
To celebrate we will be hosting a summer social for our community, neighbours, funders and friends to learn more about the garden and see our exhibition for Coastal Currents.

Ketika Gudskul Menjadi Ucuy
Carer’s Creative Workshop
The Support Collective returned to the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill last week for another Carer’s Creative Workshop, supported by the DLWP’s Learning & Participation Assistant and Artist, Miguel Martin.
Fourteen parents and carers enjoyed visiting the exhibitions, particularly taken with the work of Claudia Alarcón, an Indigenous textile artist from the La Puntana community of Wichí people of northern Salta, Argentina. Alarcón leads the Silät collective, an organisation of over one hundred women weavers of different generations from the Alto La Sierra and La Puntana Wichí communities.

In Search of the Inírida Flower
Deep within the heart of the Amazon rainforest, where nature and culture are inseparably linked, blooms the Inírida flower — a symbol of the territory’s richness and vitality. During the COP 16 summit in Cali, this exquisite bloom becomes a beacon of hope, carrying with it the voices and traditions of indigenous communities who have safeguarded these ecosystems for centuries. However, beneath its beauty lies a stark reality: the pressures of unchecked extraction and the urgent need to balance development with conservation.

Arus Balik–Shifting Currents Symposium Day 1 @Nieuwe Instituut harvest by Isabel Bruijstens, September 2024
Session 2 Diasporic imaginariesChair: Made Ngurah Amanda PinatihSpeakers: Christopher Reinhart, Setiadi Sopandi, Nazif Lopulissa
How does the existence of diasporic vernaculars impact the lived realities in the 21st century? And how can we view architecture and design as tangible reflections of these realities? Such questions lay at the base of the second session in the Arus Balik–Shifting Currents symposium. It traced the diasporic imaginaries that arise through an intermingling of diverging temporalities, traditions, identities and localities, while also exploring how such imaginaries are re-articulated through architecture and design.
An Evening With ruangrupa @Nieuwe Instituut harvest by Isabel Bruijstens, September 2024
A large table, decorated with a soft, red cloth and books and snacks scattered across it, stands in front of the audience. The latter are seated on stairs-like benches going up in height as one moves further to the back of the Nieuwe Instituut’s auditorium. One of the first things Reza Afisina (ruangrupa) voices, is the wish to break through the literal and figurative hierarchy of the room. Angga Cipta (Gudskul), proposes to start the evening with a check-in ritual and asks: when was the last time you went to a sports match in a sports arena?
SOILS at Van Abbemuseum
The Brabant chapter of the Cow and Landscape is part of the SOILS exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, until 24 November 2024.
What place can Dutch rural and more-than-human life be given within contemporary art amid growing demands for agricultural transition? We believe that good coexistence between humans and the more-than-human requires us to recognize how the economy is rooted in local cultures and (natural) environments. The work introduces the conceptual framework rural sociologist Inez Dekker and visual artist Wapke Feenstra developed together for this project as they journey through the Netherlands from autumn 2020 to spring 2024.

Provoke to think
The book that won’t be written
Más Arte Más Acción (MAMA) has been reflecting on its past and future. We intended to write a book about it, but instead came up with a card game using some of the words, phrases and questions harvested from our many conversations. It seemed like a good way to open up our reflections to others, to move away from an introspective process towards sharing in a more open space.

Speech by Ade Darmawan (ruangrupa) in the Committee on Culture and Media, German Bundestag, July 6, 2022
Dear members of the Bundestag, my name is Ade Darmawan, and today I’m addressing you as part of ruangrupa. Let me start with a brief comment about history. In 1955, Arnold Bode established documenta in Kassel, Germany, to heal the wounds of the Second World War. A few months before, in that same year, a group of leaders collectively laid the ground for what would be known as the Non Aligned Movement, in Bandung, Indonesia, discussing a way forward independent from and built on the wounds of the colonial powers.

Pasang Surut #8 (Edisi Khusus): Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict – A Primer, Phyllis Bennis

The Fall and the Heart”.

Pasang-Surut #2: Begitu Detailnya Pramoedya Ananta Toer

Possible Dialogues
The Possible Dialogues Journey
Diálogos Posibles/Possible Dialogues is an initiative to connect social and environmental leaders, activists, artists and academics who have common interests relating to climate change and justice, but have not had the opportunity to interact.
It was sparked at the end of 2019 by a conversation between Hector Fabio Yucuna Perea, Youth Coordinator of the Organisation of Indigenous Peoples of the Colombian Amazon (OPIAC) and members of Más Arte Más Acción.

A third nonkrong in Alfter/Alanus University is taking place on Wednesday 22nd March at Wohnzimmer Alfter with the title "How to talk to my village?" - a question that came up in the previous nonkrong session after a discussion with Hey_Kompost on how to introduce new cultural initiatives to rural communities as a non-local, and how to connect so-called traditional practices with a feminist approach.

Atrato [Collaborations] Micronuclei Analysis
About Atrato Collaborations
Atrato Collaborations was a project that for 4 years (2018 – 2020) enabled the exchange between cultural managers and artists from Colombia and Switzerland. In Colombia, artists and managers from Quibdó participated whose practice relates to the Atrato River as a subject of rights. Swiss and German artists and managers participated who were interested in collaboration between practices and contexts that are far apart, but can meet -improbably- to generate connections, inspire each other and lead to common actions.
quick note on lumbung.space (part 1)
design by studio4oo2 and lumbung.space working group Since the internet became popular, it has become a medium that allows the creation of new solidarity between users spread across various regions. Unfortunately, this internet networking ability is not necessarily neutral, it exists on platforms controlled by elites and full of surveillance. Nonetheless, these digital solidarity practices continue to give rise to new—more egalitarian ideas and forms; that continue to explore the unique potentials of internet use.
Plans for 2023
In early December 2022 we launched "Lumbungsden" together with the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden, to honour the enormous achievement and proposition made by ruangrupa during documenta fifteen, and to support the global call for #lumbungcontinues as a localised practice made by many.
In the first half of 2023 the Rural School of Economics will be mainly active * in Lumsden with a summer school in early July* in Pushkino, with a trans-local visit from Zvizzchi in May* at Terrra in Brezoi, setting up a new permanent collective place initiated by aaa* and redrawing the economy with Master Business students and growers in Alfter * a year with new local research starting on "
Party Office at d15/ it takes a village ;)
Gratitude towards those who made documenta fifteen possible for us:
Project was funded by documenta fifteen and Goethe Institut, New Delhi
Party Office is an anticaste, antiracist, transfeminist art and social space based in New Delhi, India, also at satellite locations and as conceptual architecture. Through publications, grants, radical archives, conversations of life lived, social gatherings, parties and more, we are building transnational dialogues on empathetic futures, care communities and radical agency.
Speculative Collective (Board game)
What can cooperative board games teach us about art collectives? How do players set up common goals instead of competing with each other? Speculative Collective Board Game is a role-playing game for players to act as members of an art collective. The game provokes discussion about sharing resources, problem solving, and decision-making in art collectives. Players roll the dice and respond to cards with prompts or questions about their personal and collective projects, while also coordinating with other players for completing missions.

About lumbung of Publishers
Within the cultural sphere, independent publishers and publishing collectives are particularly dependent on solidarity and the sharing of resources to survive. During documenta fifteen, lumbung of Publishers offers independent publishers the possibility to get to know each other and to share knowledge. The goal is to create a network that exists beyond the 100-day duration of documenta fifteen.
Among the invited publishers are the publishing collective consonni from Bilbao, the graphic experimentation workshop La Impresora from Puerto Rico, Ljubljana-based Stripburger, Rotopol from Kassel, and many more.

The Harvest at Documenta 15, by Sandra Fernández 。。。English translation below 。。。
documenta fifteen: Dreaming of a New Cartography
In an essay for Arts Equator, Alia Swastika, Director of the Jogja Biennale, offers a bold analysis of ruangrupa’s documenta fifteen, one that frames their artistic direction as an opening of new pathways that are long overdue. 。。。
Indonesian collective ruangrupa successfully introduced the global art world to the value of resource sharing and collective imagination through lumbung, the core curatorial concept at documenta fifteen, which opened on 18 June 2022, and ended two days ago, after it’s 100 day run.
Practicing the Lumbung: An Overview of documenta 15 in Pictures, by Alejandra Villasmil 。。。English translation below 。。。
Nongkrong, small challenge, yet it’s just that we’re here now…
Documenta15 is over. This is the first time that I felt sorry that the exhibition is over.I tried to write this several times before the end of the 100 days, but I couldn’t: whether to write an official, write a personal , or this hesitation prevented me from writing. Now, I think I should write.NongkrongDo we have a Nongkrong? There is a Nongkrong in Indonesian. This means “Let’s hang out!”. All of our friends used it in Kassel.

The Hamar currency is cattle and all land is free to be used by anyone. The book is also a complicated story of a conflict between strict customs and demands for change.
