In 1955, Arnold Bode established documenta in Kassel, Germany, to heal the wounds of the Second World War. A few months before, in that same year, a group of leaders collectively laid the ground for what would be known as the Non Aligned Movement, in Bandung, Indonesia, discussing a way forward independent from and built on the wounds of the colonial powers.

Coexisting “Coexisting” supported the shared and decentralised management of MAMA’s processes hand in hand with collectives from its ecosystem. Over the years MAMA has involved other cultural organisations through projects that have generated dialogues between three important territories in this region: Buenaventura (a major port city in the Pacific), Nuquí (small city in the North Pacific) and Quibdó (capital of Chocó). It was a pandemic relief project that allowed us the shared and decentralised management of our processes, hand in hand with the collectives Puerto Creativo, Tura Hip Hop, Yemayá Producciones, Fundación Mareia (Quibdó) and Colectivo de Comunicaciones En Puja (Nuquí).

quick note on lumbung.space (part 1)

design by studio4oo2 and lumbung.space working group Since the internet became popular, it has become a medium that allows the creation of new solidarity between users spread across various regions. Unfortunately, this internet networking ability is not necessarily neutral, it exists on platforms controlled by elites and full of surveillance. Nonetheless, these digital solidarity practices continue to give rise to new—more egalitarian ideas and forms; that continue to explore the unique potentials of internet use.

Cosmovisions on Land and Entangled Futures

Logos-2-700x137.jpg
Collaborative Research Project Cosmovisions on Land and Entangled Futures is a collaborative research project that seeks to investigate land rights and the social and political agency of nature from non-extractivist perspectives. The project has an interdisciplinary approach that focuses on practices that reveal worldviews at the intersections between land rights and climate justice, questioning and opposing Euro-capital-centric and dominant narratives. Based on experimentation and collaboration, the project explores formats that challenge the hierarchical structures of production and presentation of knowledge, incorporating the voices of artists, collaboration and exchange in the development process.

Speculative Collective (Board game)

What can cooperative board games teach us about art collectives? How do players set up common goals instead of competing with each other? Speculative Collective Board Game is a role-playing game for players to act as members of an art collective. The game provokes discussion about sharing resources, problem solving, and decision-making in art collectives. Players roll the dice and respond to cards with prompts or questions about their personal and collective projects, while also coordinating with other players for completing missions.

During documenta fifteen, lumbung of Publishers offers independent publishers the possibility to get to know each other and to share knowledge. Among the invited publishers are the publishing collective consonni from Bilbao, the graphic experimentation workshop La Impresora from Puerto Rico, Ljubljana-based Stripburger, Rotopol from Kassel, and many more.

Spillover and Spillover Governance at Documenta in Kassel, by Liu Weitian 。。。English translation below 。。。 [2]“学术-艺术综合体”(academic-artistic complex)这一说法来自Fred Moten与Stefano Harney合著的文章“Suicide as a Class”,详见All Incomplete, Minor Compositions出版社, 2021年, 148页。 。。。 The borders of contemporary art are expanding at an accelerated rate, the borders themselves are losing their original meaning and the boundaries that demarcate the territory are becoming a murky zone where erosion grows in both directions.

Nongkrong, small challenge, yet it’s just that we’re here now…

Documenta15 is over. This is the first time that I felt sorry that the exhibition is over.I tried to write this several times before the end of the 100 days, but I couldn’t: whether to write an official, write a personal , or this hesitation prevented me from writing. Now, I think I should write.NongkrongDo we have a Nongkrong? There is a Nongkrong in Indonesian. This means “Let’s hang out!”. All of our friends used it in Kassel.

Bazo wrote an autobiographical story about the Hamar people and Gele made drawings of his pastoral childhood memories. Lumbung Press at documenta fifteen was happy to print the unique material! And voilà! A publication about Hamar through their own perspective! The Hamar currency is cattle and all land is free to be used by anyone. The book is also a complicated story of a conflict between strict customs and demands for change.

July: Rural School of Economics in Kassel and elsewhere Our three spaces at Lumbung documenta in Kassel are in good use: the Drawing and Harvesting Room at Hafenstraße, the Rural Undercurrent Vending Machines at Hübner, and our mobile Plein-Air Kit. Drawing and trading are the two constants that weave together rural undercurrents and localrealities, and individual stories with collective histories. We keep harvesting and redistributing across the various ecosistems we are connected with.
