The festival is linked to the "Sustainable Village Project", a collaboration between the Collaborative Research Centre EFForTS of the University of Göttingen, the University of Jambi in Sumatra and Forum Wissen with documenta fifteen. The project is about diversifying palm oil monocultures with the help of native tree species.
